A Closer Look at the Gym Floor

The gym floor at TAY is laid out around three things: free weights, machines, and open space to move in. Each has its own area, and the aim is that none of them gets in the way of the others.

The free-weights section takes up the largest share. Racks, benches and platforms sit together so that anyone working through a heavy session is not walking between rooms to find a bar.

Machines run along one side, close enough to the free weights that a mixed session is easy to put together, far enough that the two do not crowd each other.

The remaining floor is left clear on purpose. Warm-ups, mobility work and conditioning all need room, and a gym packed to the walls with equipment leaves nowhere to do any of it.
